Puri: The Rs 5.5 crore lighting arrangement made at Puri was today inspected by Mr A N Sahay, the Chairman and Managing Director of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The official went on to compliment the state government for timely completion of project, which has been financed under CSR by THE mining company.
MCL, which is a subsidiary CPSU of Coal India under the Ministry of Coal, incurs an annual expenditure of over Rs 100 crore under CSR, with the purpose of development of weaker sections in the state. Mr Sahay, along with functional directors of MCL, Mr. P.C.Panigrahi, Mr J P Singh and Mr. K.K. Parida surveyed the city to review the work done under this project. The company has funded the Special Project of the state government, which has been aimed at providing strength to the power sector in Puri, Konark and the surrounding areas.
According to Mr Sahay, who was impressed by the illumination of the city, the lighting project had been commissioned successfully in just six months time. This aptly indicates how much effort has been put in by government of Odisha so that the pilgrims participating in the Jagannath Rath Yatra of Puri should get full comfort and convenience. Under the prestigious project, the Sea Beach Road in Puri has been provided with at least 30 highmast towers with LED fixtures along with LED Light system along Puri-Konark Road. Additionally, the lighting at the Puri Grand Road has been improved by the replacement of 27 old Highmast Metalex 200 watt LED lights.
In addition to inspecting the progress of the project, a special stall for distribution of free food and water was inaugurated by the CMD. The stall has been set up for the pilgrims by MCL in collaboration with Rotary Club, Puri. The volunteers of Company from Talcher Coalfields, who are in Puri to extend medical aid during the Rath Yatra Festival will also be involved in services related to the stall. Nabakalebar greetings to all were extended by Mr Sahay on behalf of the coal miners, who are dedicated to supply millions of tons of coal to the country.
