Bhubaneswar: The Nabakalebar Rath Yatra has been extended useful social as well as infrastructural services by JSPL Foundation, the CSR Arm of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, a well known steel producing corporation of the country.
The road from Mangalaghat to Sterling Square in Puri has been constructed with the support of the company. This road serves as a bypass and reduces traffic congestion in the city and its surrounding areas, by linking the visitors directly with the beach. The 5.5 km long road has been constructed by the Company, with the first time use of Jindal Global Road Stabilizer. An innovative product developed by the company, Jindal Global Road Stabilizer ensures that the soil is stabilized and the construction becomes cost effective and of good quality.
In addition to the infrastructural service, the foundation is aware of its social responsibilities too. For this purpose, it has initiated the provision of food, tea and snacks to the pilgrims, in collaboration with the
District Administration. The service is being provided at the Railway Station and at Nabakalebar village no 27 along the sea beach of Puri. The Foundation staretd the Food supply services on 17th July and continued it till 18th July, the continued Sri Gudicha day. They are going to provide the service on the occasion of Bahuda, the return of the chariot on 26th July. It will also be provided on the Suna Besa on 27th July.
Additionally, JSPL has been a part of provision of 75 moveable toilets in the area, which have been a part of a joint effort with the District administration, for the purpose of providing the facility to the pilgrims. The project is a part of Swachh Bharat Programme launched by the government.
A provison has been made for serving cold water in Puri with the help of a specialized cold water dispensing vehicle. The vehicle, which has a capacity of 500 l, will be providing its services from 17th July to 27th July. It is used to provide clean and safe drinking water to the devotees. The vehicle is fitted with such equipment which chills the water in two hours and can be refilled when required.
Another vehicle called Kishori Express has been made available for the city with the aim generating awareness regarding health and hygiene awareness. The vehicle has a huge screen, which displays messages and information pertaining to health and personal hygiene, which are specifically meant for girls. Also, JSPL Foundation has joined hands with
Bhubaneswar Police to help students volunteering for traffic control by providing meals for them. These young students are helping the police of Bhubaneshwar city in regulation of traffic to Puri and they will be carrying out the task for a three day period.

This yatra has become even more important this year, as it has been joined by hordes of foreigners and saints. The JSPL Foundation has joined hands with District Administration, with the aim of serving the underprivileged and needy coming here for the occasion. The blessings of Lord Jagannath have made this possible,” said Smt. Shallu Jindal, Co Chairperson of JSPL Foundation.
Another innovative attempt has been made by the Foundation, under which it has endeavored for its brand promotion by installing creative structures along the road. While the ‘Darusagadi’ creative reminds the commuters of the elaborate ceremonies of the Nabakalebar of Lord Jagannath, ‘Dasia Bauri ‘creative depicts the love between Lord Sri Jagannath and his ardent devotees.
