27th July, 2015 turned out to be one of the saddest days in the history of the country, as it saw a dual tragedy, with the loss of numerous lives in the terrorist attacks of Gurdaspur and the death of the former president of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr Kalam, also known as the Missile Man of India was 84. He was a great scientist and was attending a function at IIM Shillong, when he suddenly collapsed on the stage while giving a lecture during the event.
He was taken to a local hospital in Shillong at around 7 pm and at that time, there was no sign of life in him. The doctors tried for another 45 minutes to revive him with all possible efforts, but were not able to so. Finally, the former President was declared dead at 7.45 pm. The reason has not been verified yet, but the doctors say that the most probable cause for the death is cardiac arrest. Whatever be the reason, the death of this great man is an irreparable loss to the nation and the entire world.
The whole nation joins hands in profound grief, to pay homage to the great man. May his soul rest in peace!
