Cuttack: It has been decides that unlike the last year, when the Dussehra cultural programs could be continued till 10 PM, this year the time limit has been increased till the midnight. The decision was taken at a joint meeting held yesterday between the district administration, police and peace committee of Cuttack. Another change was made relating to the routes for the procession of immersion of the idols during the festival. Previously, the idols were taken to the immersion point located at Devigada by the puja committees through the Phiring Bazar, but this year they would be via the municipality road route. This was declared by Sanjeev Arora, the DCP of the city.
Another important point highlighted in the meeting was the discipline at the immersion festival, while the district administration was asked by the peace committee to look after the sanitation conditions as well as round the clock supply of water and electricity during the festive celebrations.
Additionally, steps have been taken by the administration to have four makeshift ponds dug at Devigada for the immersion of the idols, in accordance with the orders of the High Court. It has also been reported that the city will be embellished with 156 medhas for the upcoming occasion.
