Bhubaneswar: A five layer security system has been devised by Odisha police for the Nabakalebar Rath Yatra and it will be implemented from July 18. DGP Sanjeev Marik stated that Puri would have a very strong security system to make sure that any untoward incident does not take place during the yatra.
The area inside and outside Shreemandir would be provided a strong security cover and coastal security groups as well as anti-terrorist groups would be deployed for this purpose. Police cordons would be there along with the Raths.
Additionally, the yatra would be covered with 200 CCTVs which would be placed at the strategic points along the way. The DGP further said that there would be an IG, an OSD, 14 SPs, 35 additional SPs, 80 DSPs, 109 inspectors, 641 ASIs and 3 companies of Rapid Action Force, deployed for the security of the yatra. There would also be an integrated control room to identify the highly jammed places and action would be taken by the police to manage the congestions.
